Nellai Conference resolutions

A Constitutional amendment to enable State governments to decide the quantum of reservations in education and jobs should be passed, the first Youth Wing conference of the DMK said on December 16.

In a resolution, the conference said Tamil Nadu was forced to approach the Supreme Court every year to protect the 69 per cent reservation in education that it had granted to the weaker sections.

The following 25 resolutions were moved, seconded and unanimously adopted at the conference:

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Kalaignar and Tamil Nadu government were thanked for- Arranging for the setting up of their units in the State by foreign companies like Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Gebaro and Goodearth in one year since 2006 following car manufacturing units like Ford and Hyundai during the earlier rule between 1996 and 2001, and thereby providing employment opportunities for lakhs of educated youth in government service, private sector and industrial sector.

For implementing the scheme of Monthly Financial Assistance to educated unemployed youth at the rate of Rs.150, 200 and 300 pm for those who have studied upto 10th standard, HSc and graduate level respectively, thereby helping them to apply for vacancies, pay recruitment test fees and to buy books to prepare themselves without causing burden for their parents.

For canceling the order of ban on recruitments issued by the previous ADMK regime and appointing so far 2,28,149 persons in government jobs since 13.5.2006 thereby fulfilling the electoral promise of filling up three lakh vacancies in government service in five years.
