honarable minister Mr.M.K stalin. First of all i like to thank you for the development brought by you in tamilnadu.as everybody knows you are always concerned for welfare of people of tamilnadu .when ever there is some emergency like flood, rain in chennai, everybody can find you on the spot and thats what people expect from each and every ministers.you stand high as a example to all other ministers and youngsters like me. am working in abroad as a engineer and i visited chennai last week.it was really amazing to see chennai after long time.lot of fly overs were built, metro rail project in progress.also, the development in industries is really amazing sir.you are responsible for establishing big industries like hyundai, tidal park ,nissan, nokia ,michellin tyre factory and lot many .if i need to mention all it will take atleast three pages.as result of this industrial development ,many job oppurtunitis were created.many of the labour force which are working with me in abroad is moving to chennai, since they got plenty of jobs in our own state. now,i like to tell you some thing which are running in my mind.i read in some news paper that you read the comments from the common people and actions are being taken spontaneously. dear sir,as you know the food prices are keep on increasing and we have to increse our production in agriculture.many people involved in agriculture are shifting to other woks due lack of support and least importance is given to agriculture.since, you are going to be the next cheif minister and you are the only capable person to be in that post,i request you to take necessary steps to increase our agriculture production.as you know our land availability is more for agriculture and only less area is utilised due to lack of support.evrybody wants to become engineer, doctor.but, nobody likes to be a farmer.so,if proper fund is given for students studying about agriculture lot many people will practice agriculture.we have to identify the vacant land and we have to find what kind of crops can be grown there.government can lend land for free of rent to farmers who wish to do agriculture.i request you to declare green revolution and you are the capable person to do that.since lot of money being spent for free TV,Gas connections.i request you to allot some money for agriculture.the money invested like this creates employment, revenue for the government ,more over the food prices will come down.as a result people will be happy.even though the aveage salary of working people is increased, the cost of food items has gone up .so, a family needs to spend lot of money for food items.if you are bringing this kind of development in agriculture your name will be remembered for ever in the history and people like me who are struggling here in abroad for the development of other country ar e ready to practise the agriculture.so,i here by request you to take proper actions to develop agriculture and youngsters like me are ready to work under your guidance for development of agriculture.i am ready to leave my job and stay in village ,help our farmers ,educate their childrens.i got lot more ideas ,i will post it soon.i believe that you will take necessary steps to develop our agriculture and i also wish you to continue your dedicated service for the people of tamilnadu.

Respected Sir, Heartly congrats for completing the World Tamil Conference at Coimbatore a Grand success. I see chennai growing rapidly under your dynamic and energetic supervision. I kindly request you to take steps in environmental issues and making chennai more beautiful with trees, thereby reducing the carbon content(increase the Carbon Credit points),and global warming. Kindly ensure that the Flats and big malls that is being built has adequate number of trees surrounding them. This makes Chennai more beautiful, more colourful, more pleasant, disease free and ultimately people may get adequate water through rainfall. A small step by Government might tend to ignite and involve many young people towards the objective. When people tend to see that planting trees and preserving the same is beautiful and good they might work towards in preserving our mother earth. This Government should achieve the same and add another gem in its beautiful crown.

Sir, using solar power to the optimum level is the only solution comparing with other sources in existance. Rajarhat, the new township coming up on the outskirts of Kolkata [ Images ], is a series of gated residential colonies, each more high-profile than the next. All the big local builders have flagged their presence here, and so have a number of reputed national ones. But there's one recently completed development that's truly revolutionary. This is Rabi Rashmi Abasan, India's [ Images ] first "solar housing complex". Piloted by the West Bengal [ Images ] Renewable Energy Development Authority (WBREDA), the 26 villas in this complex are a showcase for the exciting possibilities that BIPV - building integrated photovoltaic - technology offers for residential projects of a similar nature. BIPV refers to solar panels integrated into the architecture - mostly into the roof, the facade or the glazing - that convert the sunlight to which they are exposed through the day into electricity. According to Lyn Toh, spokesperson for SunTechnics India, the firm that supplied the hardware at Rabi Rashmi: "BIPV makes a building highly energy-efficient and reduces carbon emissions, while ensuring basic functions of standard building elements, such as water tightness, light transmittance and thermal insulation." BIPV is all the rage in the West. Indeed, it makes a lot of sense in a world that's fast running out of oil and coal - the two, extremely polluting sources of energy that have powered industrialisation. According to S P Gon Choudhuri, director, WBREDA, BIPV constitutes around 15 per cent of the around 5,000 mega watts of installed capacity of solar power, and is growing at 50 per cent annually. So each house in Rabi Rashmi will generate 2.2 kwh - which will account for 40 per cent of the power needed to run the standard household electrical appliances. Whenever these are not being used, the power generated will be fed into the grid. In addition, each house has a solar water heating system which is good enough to supply 100 litres of hot water every day. The design of the houses uses elements of "solar passive architecture" to keep the house cool in summer. Essentially, this means ensuring cross ventilation so that the cool breeze from the water bodies to the south can circulate through the house, and making the most of natural light. "The houses are carbon neutral," says Gon Choudhuri. BIPV sounds great, but like all good things it has downsides too - primarily the high cost of installation. As Toh says, "The cost of an installed BIPV system can vary from $12-20 per watt peak, or even higher, depending upon the complexities of installation or type of solar modules. The payback will significantly depend upon the local utility's willingness to buy the green energy at a preferential feed-in tariff [the rate at which the power utility buys the power from the producer]. This is what drives the urban PV market the world over, and we envisage that it is going to happen in India as well in the years ahead." At Rabi Rashmi, the cost of each house - around Rs 45 lakh - was quite a notch higher than similar developments in the vicinity. Says Debabrata Dutta who's bought one of the houses, "We were given an estimate that we were paying about Rs 6 lakh more for all the BIPV paraphernalia, which was okay because we would be paying far less for our electricity and recovering the cost in a few years." As for maintenance, WBREDA has contracted SunTechnics India and Mackintosh Burn, the civil contractor for the project, to help the residents' association for five years. Given the costs, the maintenance and all that, it takes some amount of push by government to make people turn to such technologies. That's been the experience in the West where a number of European countries, the US and Japan [ Images ] offer financial incentives to encourage the adoption of BIPV, whether as subsidies on the cost of installation or as a generous "feed in" tariff. The West Bengal government's contribution in this regard has been two-fold. It put in around Rs 50 lakh, which went into the street lighting, the landscaping and so on. Of the rest of the total project cost of around Rs 12 crore (Rs 120 million), Rs 11.5 crore (Rs 115 million) came from the sale of the houses. "In that sense," says Gon Chaudhuri, "Rabi Rashmi was a completely commercial project." But the government has also stepped in with a feed-in tariff of Rs 5.60 per kilowatt hour, which is the peak slab for domestic power in the state. "There is a benefit of Rs 7 per kilowatt hour to the residents," the WBREDA director calculates. Incidentally, West Bengal, he adds, is the only state in the country which allows domestically generated solar power to be fed into the grid. "No other state allows this." But as Lyn Toh of Suntechnics says, "We must realise that switching to solar is not just about payback. It is also about taking that all-important first step towards securing your own energy source and about making a 'green' choice." Already Gon Choudhuri says DLF and a few local builders have signed MoUs with WBREDA to build similar houses in the state, and officials from the Centre and other states are trooping down to Rajarhat to check out Rabi Rashmi.

Sir,in order to prevent over speeding of public utility buses which causes a lot of accidents these days, steps can be taken to prevent them by setting up a board. the main function of the board should be to watch out the speed of the buses and warn the duty drivers. All the buses must bear the number of the so established board in d rear side. If any public finds the bus over speeding they may call to that number given behind. The drivers will be cautious too.

Sir, Govt employees and teachers are entrusted with Census work involving door to door enumeration. But no duty relief is given. They are asked to do the work after the working hours. Women employees/teachers are most affected as they have to look after the family and children after working hours. If they do the census work after working hours they can return home only after 8 p.m. Grant of at least half a day for a few days may be considered please.

Dear Mr.Stalin, I am Jeevan Santhosh,Working as a SW engineer in bangalore, though born and bought-up in chennai. My family is still in chennai. This suggestion is about "Inter-State Transport sector" or "SETC" There are some extimated 4 lakh employees or people living in bangalore who belongs to tamil nadu or chennai. We want to travel to our native land atleast once in a month. So there is always a good maintained Indian railways for that purpose. But reservations and the no.of trains commuted between Chn-Ban is less compared to the crowd. So people offer for the bus transport. The point is KSRTC operates some 30 buses in the weekend nights from bangalore, sometimes during festival time it's more then this number. At the sametime our state owned SETC bus doesn't even exceed 20 buses. And SETC doesn't have online-booking facility. We are very much out-dated. KSRTC runs some 10 Volvo AC bus.But what about SETC?? we don't even have one. Lot of tamil people including me doesn't like to go in SETC bus.Because of the maintenance, travel time, and quality. Lot of buses have bugs and people who get in to the bus doesn't behave properly.even the conductors and drivers soesn't behave properly. Our SETC normal semi-sleeper bus charges 275/-.The same semi-sleeper bus from KSRTC bus offer 350/-.But most of the people prefer the later one becaue of the above said reason. Please take neccasary action against the same. Few suggestions: 1.Increse the No.of buses in between CHN-BAN 2.Please start online booking facility.Thats where 80% people book the tickets. 3.Improve the quality of the bus and improve the maintenance cost. 4.Introduce new volvo or luxury bus,and increase the no.of such buses. If you see KSRTC volvo buses mostly occupied by chennai people working in bangalore only. We are ready to pay money for good quality.Sometimes Paying more stops unwanted crowd and improves the quality. So have a sector of buses for masses and start giving service to Majority customers who commute most between cities who are educated professionals. 4.Improve the running time between cities.KSRTC volvo runs within 5 hours from chn-ban. Even "RAJAHAMSHA" which is KSRTC basic service runs within6 hrs.but our SETC basic service runs for not less then 6.30 hrs.which is very high time for a distance of Chn-Ban. I believe I have given a brief outlook on the problem we people are facing. And I believe you or your authorities will read this post and take neccassay action. Thanks and best wishes for all the good work you are doing. Regards, Jeevan

1) Chennai really needs brand ambassadors (e.g. A.R. Rehman, Kamal) to spread the name globally. International media (TV or magazines) have more coverages and awareness of B'lore and Hyd than Chennai. 2) Karnataka recently concluded Global Investors Meet (GIM 2010), when is Chennai going to have such events?
