Respected sir, I take this opportunity to appreciate your efforts in modernising Chennai. I request you to introduce frequent bus services between meenambakkam airport to parrys/koyambedu. One has to reach to the main road to get a road transport. Auto drives takes this as an advantage and try collect exorbident fares. Atleast the buses plying over the bridge from Tambaram can be made to stop at Airport to commute the passengers. In all big cities state transports are well connected with the air port. This is on behlaf of the public interest and hope you will look into this matter and introduce new services. Thank you in advance.

Sir, I am offering a positive suggestion to ease congestion at Gopalapuram. As you grew up there you know the lanes behind third and fourth streets were closed years ago. These lanes can be opened and the bushes cleared _ only find space for parking all two-wheeler security vehicles /cars and to make second street free for traffic, especially during school hours. The lanes can be made one way and can be used for vehicles of those coming to the temple or hospital when it once becomes necessary. Once the bushes are cleared, the place will be free of insects like mosquitoes and also anti-socials.pl consider this suggestion and if not practicable, you can just ignore this mail. thanks. with best wishes. swami

The Govt is doing a great job by creating green space, parks etc.In a number of roads new pavements are being laid.If the government can standardise the pavement heights, and create easy mobility without making it an obstacle race of constant ups and downs it will be greatly appreciated. We find that in some places they are knee breakers and just as we take three steps we have to descend to accomodate the entrance of a house. If these ups and downs can be gentle it will be a great help to some of us trying to walk in the pavements.Otherwise we are forced to walk on the roads, causing accidents. It will be nice if councillors of each ward are made to walk in all pavements in their ward to assess what can be done. Keep up the good work

Hi It is pleasure that the Government is announcing and implementing lot of schemes ,not in words but in action. It is really laudable . The government also initiated action to clean Koovam river. That's also appreciatable. But there are news that in TN because we have crossed the limit of using ground water and is becoming like Desert ,it is an alarming bell. Also we are having water disbutes with our neighbouring states why can't government implement schemes to harvest rain and store it.Because water is a very basic need for a human without we can not imagine life.I request kindly have a thought of it.

Dear Sir, I am an NRI and live abroad. I am very happy to see the changes and improvements that you are bringing into Tamil Nadu and wish the very best for all the future plans. I would like to share one of my concern about the electricity power distribution to places such as Adambakkam, Alandur, Guidy. They are still having the overhead electricity cables, which is of poor quality and poses threat to us. While I was in chennai, I gave so many petitions and nothing happend and no one takes the responsibility. I have confidence that you will change the way facilities are given in chennai. I request you to include a plan in your succesful project list to eliminate the overhead power cables in Chennai and soon in entire Tamil Nadu. As the underground sewerage scheme, the house owners were asked to share the cost, we can also contribute the cost of the cables with respect to our streets where we live. This will help the funding for the project considerably. Since it is power cable laying it can be burried easily below 3 feets and the project will bring good results and everyone will welcome this initiative. Thank you for the opportunity created by this forum to post my suggestion. Regards Syed F Albeez

Dear Sir, Wish you and your family a very happy new year 2010.. And we pray God that you have all health and cheer to take care of Tamilnadu in an exceptionally superior state. My sincere congrats and wishes for your initiatives with Dr. Kalaignar for 108 Ambulance service , Medical Insurance for those in need for higher hospitalization. We are seeing how well it has been benefitted by the public. Hats off to you sir! Well sir as anyone would know, Coimbatore has immense wealth in the form of its extensive textile industries, and knowledge base through premier colleges/universities in India. This has now lot of focus due to ongoing semmozhi manadu as well. Having said that, its a question and infact a burning desire for a common person like me, that IT has put its foot prints in states/cities which are much below in their potential compared to Kovai. But its not grown here in Coimbatore. And its potential seems under utilized and under estimated. Its a big concern that the TOP boses(TCS, Infy, Wipro )in Indian IT companies being Tamilians where in the drive to make this happen is so less. My humble request and I am sure many people of my kind would have expressed this, will you be taking adequate initiatives, negotiations and bring development centers of Top IT companies in Coimbatore, if so our dreams can come true.. else we will be wanderers shuttling in different states/cities leaving this beatiful, potential city. I honestly believe that our dreams will come true in 2010.. through the inception of Tidel Park and rigour in bringing top IT companies here in the city. Looking forward to hear and witness the progress on this. Let us know from when this will come true? Thank You

[1] The industrial growth in southern districts of Tamilnadu is battered by the non availability of proper rail link. The entire southern stretch from Kanyakumari to Chennai has to be double lined and electrification must be done. [2] East coast link between Kanyakumari and Chennai via Valliyur, Radhapuram, Kudankulam, Udangudi, Tiruchendur, Thuthukudi, Sayalkudi, Ramanathapuram, Pattukottai,(Vellankannai) Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Puducherry, Marakkanam, Mahabalipuram and Thiruvanmiyur. [3] Theni is the only district in Tamilnadu which is not having direct rail link with Chennai. Gudalur-Cumbum-Uthamapalayam-Theni-[Bodinayakanur] -Periyakulam-Batalagund-Dindigual-Trichy-Villupuram-Chennai route has to be laid. During early 1960's the project has been initiated and Government even had started acquiring land for Railways. Later for no reasons the Project was dropped. This railway link will be a boon for • Tourist coming to see Munnar, Periyar wild life Sanctuary, Silent Valley, and Kodaikanal • The Cardomom business will flourish in Bodinayakanur, Cumbum and Uthamapalayam • Cotton mills and more engineering industries will come in and around Theni and Periyakulam area [4] Conversion of existing Maduri-Bodinayakanur narrow gauge into Broad gauge and extension of Pandian and/ or Vaigai Express to run between Bodinayakanur-Theni-Madurai-Chennai. [5] A direct rail link between Madurai and Trichy via Melur-Thuvarankurichi-Viralimali and Trichy which will ease the traffic congestion in Trichy-Dindugul-Madurai sector. Most of the south bound trains from Chennai will by pass Dindugul. [6] Linking Manamadurai and Virudunagar and allowing south bound trains from Chennai to by-pass Madurai [7] A direct, NEW, rail link connecting Thuthukudi with Kollam / Kochi (East-West corrider). This will enable Thuthukudi to become a RAILWAY JUNCTION'. Thuthukudi-Pudukottai-Vagaikulam {aerodrome}-Vallanadu-Palayamkottai-Nellai-Tenkasi-Kollam. However, SR is under taking BG conversion between Tirunelveli-Kollam route. 1. Train to run between Cuddalore and Coimbatore via Virudachalam-ulunthurpettai,Kallakurichi, and Salem 2. Train to run between Tambaram and Kalyan via Chengelpet , Mangalore and Kongan railway. 3. Another Super Fast day express to run between Nagercoil and Chennai or Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai. 4. Super Fast express to run between Thuthukudi-Coimbatore-Bengaluru and extended beyoun unto Mumbai. 5. Passenger train between Rameswaram and West Indian destinations via Coimbatore 6. Express train to link Varanasi or North Indian pilgrimage destinations with Rameswaram 7. Express Train to run between Karaikudi-Trichy-Karur-Coimbatore-Benagluru. [8] A new connectivity between Thanjavur and Ariyalur which will enable Thanjavur to have a more or less direct rail link with Chennai. [9] Introduction of MRTS facility in Madurai and Coimbatore.

Sir, Im a working professional (Chartered Accountant) based out of Chennai. As a responsible citizen I thought of making these humble suggestions. I would like to highlight in ‘Brand creation’ and ‘moving up the value chain in the product offering’ there by improving the standard of living of the people of Tamilnadu. The past several years has been good for Chennai & Tamilnadu, thanks to the efforts taken by the state government in attracting major automobile MNC and several IT/ITES companies. Its gives immense pride for a true chennaite like me on the very thought that my city is second only to Bangalore in IT/ITES space and one of the major automobile cluster of India. But what I feel that the government has failed rather should have done is ‘branding the city’. The city scores high with a ‘low cost destination’ tag & when it comes to perception, Chennai looses to Delhi/Gurgaon, Bangalore & even Hyderabad. The reason is, we are NOT moving up the value chain. In rupee terms, we have attracted more than 20000 crores of investment in the last 4 years alone. But on a close look, these investments have been spent on the ‘machines’ and other intangible things such as ‘land’ & not on the main factor of production ‘labour’. These MNC come here for the cost advantage & in any manufacturing companies the main factor of production is ‘Materials’ and ‘Machines’& perhaps the last emphasis is the ‘Men/Labour’ as most of the production is automated. In a way, the government is providing the employment opportunities but not really moving them in the value chain. Our employees still work under poor work condition, get the minimum wages or little more than what they could have got in the tier 2 or tier 3 towns. This is also evident in the frequently increasing labour unrest & formation of several labour unions. The management layer of these MNC are occupied by the expats (foreign nationals) and hence the profit from running these operations are either galloped by them or repatriated to foreign countries. The sudden increase in industrialization has lead to migration of youth from smaller towns & smaller cities to Chennai. Those who are not willing to settle down for these low paying jobs end up in migrating to near-by cities like Bangalore or Mumbai or to gulf countries. While it is good to have manufacturing industries since it helps in equivalent growth across the section of society (from helper to floor supervisor to production manager) the government should have given much more focus to service industries. For instance, in an IT company, more than 50% of the cost is spent on direct salaries & investment for any service company is nothing but their people alone. From recruiting employees, paying for their retention, staff welfare the cost of most of the service companies such as Banking, IT/ITES goes to employees. It’s just not service industries any labour oriented activites such as Consulting, R&D emphasis higher investments on labour. The service industries also create indirect employment like cabs & transportation, real estate, tourism & entertainment etc. We may be second in IT exports but again the product offerings are nothing but BPO/KPO, testing & maintenance activities which requires miniscule talent & thus they are low paying jobs. Companies like Hyndai, Motorola, Nokia, Dell have their production facility in Chennai whereas their R&D centres or corporate office is either located in Bangalore or Hyderabad. What we can do: A state like Maharashtra has several global cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and government is keen on developing new world class Greenfield cities with all modern amenities. Gujarat does not have one metropolis but still is a leader in industrialization & several new cities are coming up on the Delhi- Mumbai industrial corridor. We should focus on developing multiple manufacturing clusters in Tamilnad & all manufacturing industries, IT/ITES which involve BPO, testing, maintenance activities can be shifted to those tier-2 cities. Those involve design, R&D, consulting, Application development should be located in big cities like Chennai or Coimbatore. Tamilnadu still depends on the local talent. Though we have 250+ engineering colleges and several arts colleges, we do not have the quality of resources locally to attract industries across all sectors & all activities. The long term solution is to create a strong fundamentals like good primary & secondary education. But the short tem solution is to attract the talent across the country to Tamilnadu. Setting up world class technical institutions, business schools, foreign institutions (like the Virginia university near Puducherry) will allow influx of several students from different part of the country who can turn as potential workforce. The state & Chennai in particular should turn to be ‘youngster friendly’ city allowing cross sectional society, multi cultered people. A city like chennai if it has to be truly global city, should have more ‘knowledge parks’. These knowledge parks will have Finance, IT & R&D SEZ. More emphasis should be given to have their corporate office in these knowledge parks that’s where the creamy layer of the company will be situated. These knowledge parks should not be coming in the already congested city but on a new Greenfield city outside Chennai (Similar to Noida & greater Noida) A higher emphasis should be given in creating a truly world class infrastructure. Instead of proposing elevated or BRTS corridor inside the city leading to land acquisition hassles & there by multiple court cases, we can instead have a new city with all these modern infrastructure, designated commercial & residential areas, place for the international school/college campuses, outside the city limits. Chennai should host several high end business & investor summit, international sports event. The government should encourage more industries to have their product launch from here. For instance, the automobile show, auto racing shows, can be hosted in Chennai instead of Delhi since the city has the highest automobile production capacity. More fashion shows since Tamilnadu has a biggest textile cluster too (Tirupur & Coimbatore) Activities like this & much more will put Chennai on global map and helps in creating the brand for Tamilnadu. In a long run there is going to be a perception change. More public- private participation should be encouraged. The government can have a ‘real estate’ specific policy so that more & more real estate players will come forward for infrastructure creation. Creation of private cities like ‘Lavasa’ near Pune, requires more private public participation. The promotion of these projects by these real estate player will automatically create the much needed publicity.

I am a daily walker in the marina beach. Now marina looks very beautiful. But the garbages in the marina is being cleaned at about 7.00 A.m. While walking in the early morning we see lot of papers plastic bottles etc in the marina. If it is cleaned in the night it will be ideal. Eventhough there is restriction by the motorists from 5.00 a.m to 7.00 am still autoriskshaws and tourist cars and motorcycles are playing during that time. Even during the time of the planning commission chief Mr Naganathan's walking time also it happens. In the evening the metal road is used by motorists as a parellel road to go to Lighthouse side at high speed. you can't cross the metal road easily. Traffic regulartion if it is implemented strictly it will be useful to all of us.

Dear Mr.Stalin, 1.The attitude of Indian people must undergo a major overhaul. It is changing gradually. Cleanliness, obeying laws......etc must be the basic things. But i feel we are lagging behind. The basics must be set right. Corrective measures should be taken. 2.Still TN is observed as a conservative state. It should change. Brand value of TN as a whole and cities must be developed so as to attract human talent.

Dear Mr.Stalin, I am happy to hear that Tamilnadu has been able to attract Rs.60,000 crores of Investment. With this repect i would request you to look into attracting research companies. Though the current investments may develop TN. In long run research keeps the momentum going. Three things which i would like you to concentrate on is 1. Education - Unified education for all is good. The standards of such education should be high. GoTN must train the teachers, consolidate the schools...in total go through this change into unified education in a phased manner. Introduce a "KNOWLEDGE VILLAGE" like concept where international schools may be setup, Universities from all over the world can setup campus, Research companies can setup their offices, other offices can setup their training campus...etc. GoTN must invite Universities from all over the World to setup campus in TN. A variety of curriculum may be ensured. 2. Infrastructure - Many infra projects announced are under litigations. Please look into it and set it on the right path. 3. Investors summit - An Investor summit may be organised at regular intervals to lure investors. Special purpose exclusive industrial parks for different countries and different sectors. A variety of sectors may be covered by the investments.

Dear Mr. Stalin, I have been travelling all around the world. The first best thing I experience is the Transport system including Taxis. Language should never be a constraint for using public transportation. TN has all the infrastructure but unfortunately any one without Tamil background finds it difficult to use public transportation in TN especially the Taxis and Autos literally take the non-tamils for a ride. Even tamilians including the localites are taken for a ride and that is a different story. For anyone, the first impression on a place comes with his/her first interaction with the local public transport system. Because of my travel all around India and world, I keep meeting quite a lot of people. And many of them complain about two things viz., 1. Tamilians do not want to speak any language other than Tamil, 2. Public transport system especially Autos and Taxis are so scary. As a Tamilian, I always defend TN and claim that Tamilians are known for hospitality. But the statistics and their experiences prove me wrong. Suggestion: 1. What does it take to setup a Hindi / Tamil / English speaking Police controlled Auto / Taxi system in Madras Central, Egmore and Koyambedu. This can be started with Chennai first. What does it take to standardize auto meters. TN Auto system has been a shame for ages. Let us welcome many outsiders to TN which will ultimately earn a lot of Tourist revenue. The best things in TN are Temples, Textiles, Food and nature. As you are a visionary, could you please take some action on this. Thanking you, With Regards S. Krishnakumar.

General

Dear Sir, My name is Lenin. My hometown is salem nearby. But now am working in coimbatore. My families they are living my hometown only. So here(coimbatore) am staying with my friends. We both taking our foods to nearby hotels & motels and sometimes roadside also. But many of the hotels they dont care about the clean and producing fresh foods. Almost 98% of the hotels they dont care about cleaniing to those kitchens. They using old vegetables, grocery items, oils and many more items are not good for our health. Also 99% of the hotels if the food is excess they dont throw it. They simply to do re-productivity. For example if the hotel they prepared meal for lunch; If it is excess then they simply keep the fridge and next day morning this will be comes "pongal". They keep upto fungicide stage. Sir, you just ask ur circle "there are thousends hotels available in our state. You heared any news if a hotel is throw the excess foods?" They dont throw any excess foods. All excess foods they do re-productivity and sell to us. Each and every foods almost is not good to our health. Sir, I request Recently in VELLORE govt official persons they do raid with all hotels and few restaurants also. The same type I request govt officials they have to conduct raids all over our state and secure our hotels they serve healthy foods. Also these hotels if the food raw materials price is hiked.....then they simply inclrease all foods prices immediately. The same time if food raw material price is slashed.....they dont reduced food prices. Thanks & Regards, Lenin.
