This is one major reason why the landfills keep growing. As there is no restriction on polythene bags public merrily come to shop without a bag .Some of these end up in water ways. When small towns like Nagercoil can ban it why not Chennai? If banned, the benefits to the environment will be spoken all over India. We need to Save Chennai. Also ask a land fill manager what will make his demoralizing job manageable. He will say ban polythene bags. We can use jute bags instead of polythene bags, Like in Nagercoil.

Dear Sir, Greeting! This serves to appreciate the extremely competent service of “108” which we availed recently. We tried to call several Ambulances at 5.30 am on August 4th in Anna Nagar and could not get one immediately. As suggested by one driver, we dialled 108 and with in the next 10 minutes the Ambulance was home with a paramedic and took our ailing father who fell unconscious to the nearest hospital. To our surprise when we offered to pay for the service they ignored and they mentioned the service was free and refused to take any tips. The paramedic was so kind and professional; they conducted the initial checks and even helped the hospital staff to handle the patient. Though my father died the same evening, it was amazing to get help just after a call and the care the 108 team took. It really looked as though we were in a foreign Country. Our salutes to such services and hope our people cooperate to maintain such facilities. Can’t we have similar facility in other areas also? It will be a real boon for people of the lower class. We appreciate the noble cause. Keep up the good work Sir.

We live in Madipakkam. The madipakkam bus terminus, inspite of its vast area, is not properly maintained properly. It has been used as a private parking lot for tourist operators and Engineering college buses. Presently the bus services available from madipakkam bus terminus are M45A to Ice house, M51E to saidapet. Rarely 70D to Ambattur estate. Majority of the commuters are supposed to go to a nearest bus stop called Ponniaman koil bus stand. There is no bus link from madipakkam bus terminus to the following places- Tambaram, Mandaveli, Mylapore, Broadway (only rare specimen bus 1 G cross is operated). I kindly request you either to operate more no. of buses from madipakkam bus stand by converting it into bus terminus and bus depot or by making enroute buses to ply through madipakkam bus terminus which will ease the public transport system.
